The Alexandre Taché House
172-174 Champlain Street
The history of this house, built in 1911 by entrepreneur Joseph Bourque, is intertwined with that of the Taché family who lived here from 1941 to 1964. Alexandre Taché was a lawyer, a Representative and Speaker of the Quebec House of Assembly, and finally, a Superior Court judge. Quebec Premier Maurice Duplessis liked to visit this family, as did several Canadian dignitaries. The memory of this great citizen of Hull is preserved in the boulevard and the Université du Québec en Outaouais building that bear his name.
